For the sixth time the Institute of Botany ASCR, v.v.i. is going to organize Perennial weekend in Pruhonice on 6.6. – 7.6. Its aim is to show selection of perennials grown in Pruhonice Botanic Garden at Chotobuz, their development, breeding and garden utilization. 

The Institute, located in Pruhonice Castle, is one of the research institutes of the Academy of Science of the Czech Republic and it covers fundamental research on species, populations and communities of plants.
The Pruhonice Botanic Garden at Chotobuz participates in many international events regarding to its extensive collections of irises, peonies, roses and daylilies. It follows the tradition of Pruhonice Park especially in garden plant introduction and saving gene pools of certain plants. The Park is described as one of the most unique examples of garden landscape architecture in the world.
As most of the plants in the collections have a long-standing tradition of growing in East Asia, we try to introduce them to visitors, show their role in Asian culture, symbolism and art. That is the reason why Japanese Day is organized annually in representative premises of  the Castle, in cooperation with Czech–Japanese Association and Prague Sogetsu Study Group.
This event has been positively accepted with very good public response. We would like to continue this year with following program, too: Ikebana exhibition using materials from our collections, workshops of ikebana, calligraphy, sumie, origami and mango drawings, followed by Kjogen theatre performance and examples of traditional archery and kendo. The program also includes a lection about Japanese sword and; depending on other opportunities; another show of martial arts and board game Go.
Official opening ceremony starts at 10am on Saturday 6.6.2015, Knight’s Hall of Pruhonice Castle.
